Olympic Gold Medalist and LGBTQ+ Activist Tom Daley hosted a ‘Made with Love’ workshop at this year’s Cheltenham Literature Festival.

Tom sat down with multi-award-winning Documentary Maker & Author Hana Walker-Brown at the VOICEBOX Stage, chatting about his new book - ‘Made with Love’ where stitch by stitch, he intends to inspire the next generation of crafters.

As well as chatting about his new book, Tom hosted a free knitting workshop, encouraging those of any ability to give it a go.

Speaking on his Instagram story post-workshop, Tom Daley said:

“So I’ve just finished at VOICEBOX at Cheltenham Literature Festival which was so much fun. Knitting is my superpower, it brings so much joy, yet calmness into my life - it’s like a form of meditation! It’s difficult to get hang of at the start which is why it’s great to be able to host a workshop and give people the opportunity to try it out. Knitting has genuinely changed my life and hopefully sharing this skill with others can change their lives too!”

VOICEBOX, in its second year at The Times and The Sunday Times Cheltenham Literature Festival, brings Generation Z together with free events, centred around issues of importance within literature. With 1 in 6 people within the Gen Z community identifying as queer or transgender, representation is very much needed within events such as this.

The work that the VOICEBOX team has done to make everyone feel welcome is groundbreaking. Having global icons such as Tom Daley, alongside local stars such as Misty Monique and Jack Shute is what makes VOICEBOX so special.

We’re very proud to be able to work alongside the team to support this year’s event.”
